1、 Understanding Colorful Lead
1 Material
Firstly, it should be recognized that colored pencils are a semi transparent material, and their manufacturing is significantly different from sketching pencils made of graphite and clay mixed in different proportions. Most of the domestically produced colored lead is based on a wax matrix, which is not easy to form a delicate style and sharp edges. However, it has a magical effect when creating special effects and is an auxiliary material. Foreign colored pencils are mostly made of carbon matrix, some of which are water-soluble, but water-soluble colored lead is generally difficult to form a smooth color layer with many spots, so it is more suitable for painting mottled effects.
2 Drawing method
The drawing method of a colored pencil can reflect a person's patience and delicacy. The difficulty of a colored pencil lies in its simple basic drawing method, which includes two types of flat coating and line arrangement. Avoid being impatient, otherwise what comes out is no different from children's paintings. When arranging the lines, it should be done honestly, and the fish lines in the sketch should not be closely arranged to form color blocks. When it is stable and durable, there is a slight texture on the surface. Some people say that the lack of color lead is just a lack of understanding of its translucency, and stacking and mixing colors can combine to create countless changes.
3 Coloring order
Because it is a semi transparent material, it should be done one by one in the order of light color followed by dark color, and should not be rushed forward. Otherwise, the screen is prone to dark flipping up and lacking depth. When coloring the last few times, the pigment particles can be forcefully pressed into the paper surface, resulting in a slight mixture of colors and a smooth surface.
2、 Basic Techniques of Colorful Lead
(1) Flat coating method
Use colored pencils to evenly arrange pencil lines to achieve a consistent color effect.
(2) Overlapping color method
Use colored pencils to arrange pencil lines with different colors, which can be overlapped and have rich variations.
(3) Water dissolution and halo removal method
By utilizing the characteristic of water-soluble colored lead dissolved in water, the colored lead lines are fused with water to achieve a halo reducing effect.
3、 The drawing method of colored lead
Colored pencils should not be used in large areas with single colors, otherwise the picture will appear dull and plain.
In the actual drawing process, colored pencils are often used in conjunction with other tools, such as combining with pen lines, using pen lines to outline spatial contours, object contours, and coloring with colored pencils; Combining with marker pens, use marker pens to lay out large color tones on the screen, and then use color lead overlay method to deeply depict; Combined with watercolor, it reflects the effect of color fading, etc.
Colored pencils have their unique brushstrokes, which are light and quick to use, with strong line sense. They can be hand drawn, and there are also lines arranged with a ruler. When drawing, attention should be paid to the handling of virtual and real relationships and the embodiment of line aesthetics.
The colored lead technique is one of the fast performance techniques.
4、 Painting steps:
Firstly, select a light colored pencil to outline the initial draft.
2. According to the skin, hair color, and clothing color of the character, coloring can be done locally or layer by layer from the overall perspective.
3. In the process of coloring, attention should be paid to the combination of colors and the relationship between color temperature.
4. All colors can be dissolved in water, or local water dissolution can be used according to different textures, or repeated drawing can be done when dry or wet until desired.
